Signs That Your Washing Machine Needs To Be Repaired By A Professional

Posted on: 26 July 2016

Instead of automatically running out to spend money on the purchase of a brand new washing machine, you may want to look for signs that indicate that your machine can and should be repaired by an appliance repair professional. To know when to call for assistance, you will want to review the following points.

The Machine Does Not Stop Filling With Water

If the water level switch inside of your washing machine is in need of replacement, the machine will continuously fill with water until you manually shut it off. Even if you have it set for the smallest load of laundry, when this switch is broken, the water will continuously run until it fills the barrel and overflows over the sides and onto your floor. This can make an incredible mess, but it is not an indication that you have to go buy a new machine. Instead, you will want to call an appliance service technician who can quickly swap out the switch and have you back to doing laundry in no time at all.

The Clothes Are Always Dripping Wet

Even though a lot of water is ran through the washing machine, the spin cycle should be strong enough and last long enough so that your clothes are no longer dripping wet. If you pull your clothes out of the washing machine and you are able to wring a lot of water out of them, the spin cycle is not being activated at the control panel or there is something inside of the machine that is physically preventing the barrel from spinning efficiently. If you allow this problem to continue, you will find that it will take a massive amount of time for your clothes to actually dry in the dryer. Also, you will end up putting a large amount of strain on the dryer itself since it will have to work harder to dry your drenching wet clothes.

The Machine Always Sounds Like It Is Off Balance

You may suspect that the machine will be extra loud and possibly shake a little more if you add the clothes to it in a uneven manner. However, if the machine is making strange loud sounds or it is always rocking violently back and forth no matter how little you put in it or how balanced the clothing is, you may have a problem with the nuts and bolts within the machine. They may have come lose and are in need of tightening or a full replacement.

With those three signs of washing machine trouble in mind, you will know when it is time to call in the professional.
